Readerware for Mac does exactly what you would expect from a database, and does it well. Each entry can be further edited to note location, notes, keywords, condition, and a host of other attributes, each one searchable. Once entered, the application connects with a server and downloads all the relevant information, populating as many data fields as it gets.
Though bar code readers aren't expensive, we felt that adding this feature makes so much sense. There's an option to scan each item with a bar code reader, which left us wondering why we couldn't use the camera that's built into most modern Macs, instead. The process is the same for music or videos, using UPC codes, instead.
